rps Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 QB: the twin spin has other excellent applications. If you need to fish flooded brush, it hangs less than a single spin. Slow roll it through bluff end timber when the fish have suspended off the bottom. In Spring time cold water, throw it parallel to the bank and slither it across the bottom. (Slither is a technical term) When the fish want you to bring a bait over trash and kill the bait, the twin spinners keep the bait level as it falls and ups your hook up percentage.
Quillback Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Slither - I think I understand. I wonder if TW will have a 4th of July sale?
Members innova Posted June 29, 2014 Members Posted June 29, 2014 I learned this 30 years ago fishing Lake Tenkiller in Oklahoma. Spinnerbaits at nights produce big fish, but you fish them different than you do in the daytime. Bait to use 1/2 oz or larger single Colorado blade Color Black Trailer Pork Uncle Josh #11 Black Where to fish. long points Bluff walls Creak channel bends Retrieve Long casts let the bait sink, ( I usually start of with a 5 count on the drop ) slow retrieve just fast enough to feel the blade thump. The bite usually is not like the typical spinnerbaits bite where they knock it out of your hand. Think more on the lines of the bait just stopping. I relate it to the bite you feel while swimming a grub. When your bait stops set the hook. Hope this helps.
Quillback Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 I could see myself fishing that at night. If I night fished..
96 CHAMP Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 I haven't done much spinner bait fishing after dark lately, seems i fish to much during the day and get to wore out to continue all nite, but when i did my go to bait was single spin black with uncle josh green with white dots pork trailer. Had many awesome nights just slow rolling that bait, when one does grab it it just stops dead in its track, awesome bait
Hazbin Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I wish Bo would show a picture of his Blackwidow Spinner Bait. I have caught more big fish at night on that lure than anything else I can remember. It's a concept of a detachable jig, # 7 single Colorado blade and the harness is completely different than anything you have ever seen on .032 wire and you talk about thump and watching the end of your rod dance up and down. It is definitely a big fish bait. It's really a shame this can't be shared, because it is so darned effective. The way I throw it is I let it free spool down just like I fish a jig all the way down to the bottom and then crank 8 or 10 times and get it thumping real good and then let it thump back down to the bottom. The strike will either come on the fall or they will trap it on the bottom. It stays upright at all times, as you know most lay over on their side and you get a lot of side of the mouth and lip hooking. With the jig staying up right you will hook the fish in the top of the mouth almost everytime and the pulling contest is on!!

Chris King Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I tried the War Eagles with the laminated fluorescent yellow and purple blades under a black light. Those dudes sure light up the clear water. Didn't catch a fish on them even though I had about 10 attack the lit up BLADE (under the new moon the other night). I need to switch to a straight black one and see if they'll actually eat the whole thing.
