Water is perfect for this weekend!! I would suggest early morn and middle of the day when boat traffic is highest. I always do well immediately after a boat blows through. Disturbs the baitfish and discombobulates crawdads and invertebrates. Big smallies and walleye capitalize on this 3 to 5 minute feeding opportunity. Sorry about the big words.

Discombobulates! Always my go to word!

I just got in from fishing. I don't usually smallmouth fish but the top water bite was too much to bare. Get out and fish if you can. The dog day moss is pretty much taking over the bottom so cranks are futile top water is really hoppin. Though.

Small your SeaArk a prop or jet? I ran the Meramec a couple of years ago when I first bought my job boat but after destroying a prop just past the Kirkwood ramp I pretty much stay away from there. Now that the water is up I'm sure it's much better.

You guys fishing down river from Kirkwood?

I have a Riverpro jet. This report was from the red horse access area. Which is stclair. I fish kirkwood access as well though. I prefer to fish kirkwood but the water is hardly ever fish able

HW, took your advice last weekend and did very well on a double prop topwater bait. Got quite a few smallmouth in the faster water and spotted bass in the slower water areas by laydowns. Nothing real big but sure is a fun to watch them blast it.
