I caught a male brown and it was 30.5 inches. It had a girth of 20 inches. Does anyone know a formula for weight? I caught it below outlet #2 on a grey scud with a little orange tied in. This is the biggest trout I have caught. I did not have a camera with me so I just measured it and returned it so some one else could have the same thrill.

Nice fish..

did you catch him today???

I have seen a fish that big around there since early Dec..

I believe it is something like this..

(I maybe wrong.. but Its close)

Lenght (X) width (X) lenght (devided by) 800 = lbs

this would make the fish close to 23 1/4lbs

If Im wrong.. then someone else can clarify ....

I saw a stick-on ruler on a bench at a public access dock that had the formulas for trout, bass, crappie, and something else, and I think you are right. I remember thinking it would be handy to have, since it also listed the common weights for the different fish, but I don't know where to find one!

Yikes!!! I Hate that warning horn

Here is one on the internet. Punch in the the dimensions and it comes out to 13.5 lbs. Nice one! I also have one on the palm pilot but it is out in the truck. This one claims to be within 10 percent.

I have found that (length X Girth X Girth)/(800) gives a very close approimation. All of the online calculators that I have tried are all off. Just my expierience. According to my method it comes out to be 15.25 lbs. Nice fish, sucks to not have a camera to snap a pic on a fish like that. I'll bet that never happens again. LOL

I caught this fish on 12/27/06 about 3:15 pm. Thanks, I think that the www.fishdreams.com/calculator.all_species.html is the best place to go.

Yo Ducky

Check at the desk at the hatchery. They have a slot ruler for that area. That may be what you saw.
