I have combed over the this forum looking for drop shot info, and there is some. I see people starting to drop shot now (july). I have never done it before, but am interested in giving it a go. My understanding is Flourocarbon, lighter line (6-8lb), and a drop shot hook 15-18" above a drop shot weight. (correct any misunderstandings please).

I am looking through the plastics to use for dropshot, and see Zoom with some 4" finiss worms, Tiny flukes, meathead, fish doctor, and drop shot worm. Other manufacturers with similar options. Colors vary from shades of green, to some options in Smoke/purple. What is the most common option/color?

Since I have never done this before, I am inquiring for some technical advice on rigging, and what to look for in the area I will be dropping in. I assume deeper water, but any insight you can share is appreciated. Structure, deep open water, river channels, points, cliffs, etc?

Bill Babler put together some drop shot tips a year or 2 ago, great stuff, you may have to do some searching to find it.

Drop-shotting is kinda like scratching your butt. We all do it but we don't talk much about it and we try not to let anyone else see us doing it.

Amen. There are so many better ways to catch them.

That said, gravel roll offs and deep docks are always worth a look.

Those. are very true words. That is exactly what I do. Since the way I rig mine looks more like some. sort of cat fish setup most people do bot know what I am doing and thats fine with me. There is a time and a place for all systems. And I imagine the way it is fished TR is entirely different from the way I fish it up here. My own way looks more like flipping that drop shoting.

I like a swivel on the end of mine to tie the main line. Drop shot can put a good twist i to your line sometimes.
