Old plug Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 ]HUNTEST------ Were suppose to avoid political crap on this forum. But you got a narrow view of people on welfare. You need to walk a mile in each welfare persons shoes before you judge them. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer poorer and all the jobs are gone to china and India solely for the purpose of more profit. I have long said people who draw unemployment should be required to work at public jobs like street repair and park clean up and any number of things. Something like the WPA of the 30's would be good as well. CHAMP----- I witnessed something yesterday and last night that tops everything I have ever seen. I went out on my deck to drink some coffee and what to the wandering eye should appear but 4 tiny heads bobbing around out in the middle of Mill creek cove about hundred yards from the mouth. None had life vest on except one little girl about 6-7 years old. They were being trailed ( I use that term loosely because she was a good 5-6 yards from the closest one and they were spread out besides)by a woman in a 10 ft Kayak for safety. They were swimming the width of the cove and back. My wife was about in tears. She was sure she was going to see someone drown. They made it this far rested setting on a dock and took off the other way. I assume they all made it home. None were over 12. Being a strong swimmer ( as they surely must have been) is only a small part of it. There is a gas dock and bar up that cove. thankfully nothing with a truly large wake went by them. But the story does not end there. I was fishing after dark up in the cove at about 10:30 and was out beyond the dock ends a short ways. I happened to turn and there sitting on the water about about 20 ft from my boat was the kayak with one of those small kids in it watching me fish. I told him he was looking to get killed and he pointed to a couple weekly lite red and green christmas tree lights he had taped to the front of the Kayak. He just paddled off into the dark.
MeatintheFreezer Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 At the risk of getting back on the original topic of this post, I will share the following recent experience: My 15 year old son and I were night fishing on Stockton last Thursday night. We were a few miles below CC where the channel swings across the lake and is lined by stumps. Around 10 pm we noticed a boat coming from the South running faster than he should have been at night, I would guess around 50 mph. Another outstanding feature was his bow light was a green strobe light - seriously. He turned to his right, presumably to follow the channel across the lake. The problem was that he turned several hundred yards to soon. He ended up running across a stumpy mud flat that is less than 10 foot deep. We both clenched our teeth and I commented that there was another moron who had no business being on the lake after dark. Before I could finish my sentence, he ran over a stump on the driver's side. His boat rocked up completely on its side then righted itself, we could see the splash in his running lights. He never came off plane, turned a 180 and went back across the flat the same way he had came. We went back to fishing for another hour or two then decided to head for the house. We hadn't ran a mile down the lake and there was a boat in the middle of the lake flagging me down with a spotlight. It wasn't much of a mystery who it was with the flashing bow light. This guy not only almost killed himself and his passenger running over a tree, but he also ran out of gas trying to get back to the ramp. I tied him on and towed him back to the dock where he proceeded to tell me about another time he ran it aground on a sandbar! I lectured him on how he could have gotten seriously hurt running on the lake not knowing where he was. I told him there were taller trees in that area that would have killed them as fast as they were running. Of course, he knew every lake in this part of the country like the back of his hand......maybe that strobe light got in his eyes. Anyway, the punch line to this whole story is that while I was backing my trailer in, my son was on the dock with our boat and the guys in the other boat. The guy told my son he was trying to sell his boat and asked if he knew anyone who might be interested. So..... if anyone out there is looking for a Nitro Z6 that has been ran aground, has stump rash from nose to tail, no gas gauge, and a flashing bow light he is only asking $7000 for it!!! Someone please buy it and get this moron off the lake. Remember - If at first you DO succeed, try not to act surprised & quit while you're ahead.
Champ188 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 The amount of true ignorance sitting behind steering wheels on our lakes and highways is mind boggling. Same goes for those blessed with children. I hope to gosh thse kids at LOZ live to see their next birthday. Who in heaven's name is supposed to be watching them?
