jdmidwest Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I think the word would be "infectious", not poisonous. But it really has the same effect if not treated with antibiotics, just slower. I believe some of the big lizards have a mouth bacteria count that infects their victims when bitten. Probably some other reptiles too. But a dog bite or a human bite would cause an infection too it left untreated. Snake venom either causes tissue and blood damage or neural blocking which leads to death. I don't believe in wholesale killing off of snakes, but if you don't want to get bit, leave them alone. That would be the thing to learn about this episode. Feathers and Fins Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Oh what the heck... This is what happens when you get bit https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
jdmidwest Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Who's finger? Do I need to call 911? F&F raised snakes for a hobby. Much worse than bees. BTW, that is a little pinkie finger swelled up. They say bee stings are good for arthritis, but that is the only finger I have joint pain in. It still bothers me today over a year later. Feathers and Fins Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 Not my finger. its a friends. my worse was not even a snake I had in my collection at the time but one that got me on the hand when I went to the call of nature. THANK GOD he hit the hand and not the part I needed to use at that time. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856

Members dmorgan66 Posted February 14, 2015 Members Posted February 14, 2015 One of the problems I have with the fish and game department is that they bring a bunch of snakes to fairs and exhibits in malls and let kids handle them. Just stupid in my opinion! If they want to bring them and let people look at them in their cage....fine. But they should be teaching kids, and adults, they should not be picking up snakes, of any kind, in the outdoors. They let a little kid hold them and they loose their fear of snakes. You can tell them all you want while they are holding them not to pick them. You think they are listening to you when a guy hands them a snake? DAAA. They think it is OK to pick them up in the wild. So they get bit....now whose fault is that?? Those guys are not to smart, again in my opinion, or they don't have, or understand, kids! OK.....rant over.
