Members bt1212 Posted July 13, 2014 Members Posted July 13, 2014 Caught these last night at a newly discovered farm pond. The smaller one is a blue gill i'm pretty sure but the bigger 2 not sure caught all these right at dark fishing a brown plastic worm. any help appreciated
Wayne SW/MO Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Hard to tell from the condition, but the left one looks like and Ozark bass and the middle one a warmouth or goggle eye. Neither of these are what you normally find in a pond so I'm not real sure about any except maybe the Ozark. Was this pond in the White river drainage? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

grizwilson Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Not in white river drainage is located in the highlandville area. Highlandville-James River-White River.... would be in that drainage, but would think some one transported them. “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
Wayne SW/MO Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Highlandville-James River-White River.... would be in that drainage, but would think some one transported them. I think that's it. They probably came out of the James at sometime in the past. I'm not sure where the TR goggle eyes came from, maybe accidentally in a stocking or maybe someone wanting to see if they would take hold, but they aren't native to the lake. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Tim Smith Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 I think I see pigment spots in both the posterior anal fin and the soft dorsal of that middle fish. That would make it a green sunfish...or possibly a hybrid of some sort...it seems to be bigger than the average green (or warmouth) and the mouth seems slightly smaller. The fish and image quality makes it hard to be sure.
