No World Record, But 482-Pound Halibut Caught In Southeast Alaska Is A Jaw-Dropper

That's a ,monster.

On a charter trip out of Sitka, watched a buddy haul a 120# halibut from 300 FOW. No thanks, I'd rather catch a couple of 20# halibut. Usually those really big ones are grainy and make lousy table fare.

Gonna cost him an arm and a leg to ship all of those filets home.

One great thing about a trip to Alaska, all of the beer batter halibut you can eat for about the price of hamburger here.

After further reading, this guy only brought back 100 pounds. I am headed up there Saturday. I don't have to worry about catching a big boy like that, more chickens in the 20 pound range. Cant wait. Just like bringing a piece of plywood to the top.
