Quillback Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 That's a ,monster. On a charter trip out of Sitka, watched a buddy haul a 120# halibut from 300 FOW. No thanks, I'd rather catch a couple of 20# halibut. Usually those really big ones are grainy and make lousy table fare.
jdmidwest Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Gonna cost him an arm and a leg to ship all of those filets home. One great thing about a trip to Alaska, all of the beer batter halibut you can eat for about the price of hamburger here. luckycraft Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 After further reading, this guy only brought back 100 pounds. I am headed up there Saturday. I don't have to worry about catching a big boy like that, more chickens in the 20 pound range. Cant wait. Just like bringing a piece of plywood to the top.
