Is there any truth to the old saying "if you see them in the daylight, they have rabies" ??

Ive seen a group of coons out in the daylight too, just wondering if they all have rabies.

I don't know about the skunk in daylight. I would make sure the dog is vaccinated and I would beach the fire out of anything that comes in contact. The coons on the other hand are generally sick, but it can be distemper for them. Once they are really sick they tend to act strange, fearless, sometimes a little unsteady, and lost.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Do you lay the tarp over the trap or wrap it tight around the trap?

I found out theres a way to kill them with an exhaust pipe. Lol

I could use the truck's exhaust, piped in under the tarp to euthanize it.

All we needed was dryer vent pipe fitted over the tailpipe.

I hear this works to neutralize the smell.

1 Quart of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide

1/4 Cup of Baking Soda

1 Tsp of liquid soap

Mix together and wash the dog down with it. Be careful around the eyes.

Here's the link to the article I found:

Just lay it over it.

The old fashion way to get rid of the skunk is to put lutefisk under the porch, works every time. The downside is you may find a family of Norwegians now living there. Yes I am Norwegian and no I do not eat lutefisk.

I thought lukefisk was an OAF member that you were cracking a joke on. :XD:

Look for one of the PVC traps, they work wonders. No mess or smell and you can take it swimming with you. I personally would not trust the tarp thing if the trap is big enough to get its tail up.

And, upon death, they sometimes will release the odor. I doubt if you want it in your water tank.

If you kill them under the house, you will have to deal with the smell of death for a while unless you can cap it off. If it is an adult in a den, there may be young inside. You get the adult, the young ones will probably come out in a while to look around. Then you will have to deal with them too.

I haven't seen or smelled that skunk in a few days.

I'm almost certain that he wanted that bag of trash laying out near the porch.

I usually take it straight to the trash bin, but was last that day & left it out overnight.

Ever since, I got rid of the trash, he hasn't been back.
