I didnt like those teeth, so I plugged him with the .22

Thats not how I wanted to handle it, but I wasn't going to chance getting a nasty bite.

Also, I could smell the skunk in that treeline. Hes going to slip up real soon.

Generally you can grab them by the tail and just put them on the ground, done it more than once. They snarl and show their teeth, but they don't really snap or try to bite. They won't bother you if you drop them at your feet.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

awe man, I feel bad.

I was afraid to release it just in case it got into our trash again.

The next one is going to get relocated.

I've got that exact same trap you do,I trap a lot of squirrels with it. Got a possum last year, relocated him - he just walked out once I opened the door and slowly walked into the woods.

Racoons are what worry me (next to skunks), those things get pretty mean in that trap sometimes.

Coons are the ones that make me nervous, theyre some mean critters.

I had to kill one several years ago after trapping it.

I really dont like shooting them, so Im going to relocate anything besides a skunk.

Its getting the hollow point for sure.

I hate getting possums in a live trap. They usually crap all over it to keep others away from their food. Makes a stinking mess.

If you have to handle them, use a good heavy pair of leather gloves, they will bite.

Nice thing about the live trap, you will catch all kinds of other critters first. Coons are probably the ones that are getting into your trash. They can open lids and make a mess. Possums don't usually do that, but they will show up after the coons scatter it.

If you can get some sweet feed, mix some molasses and peanut butter into it, it will work wonders as bait for a trap. If using cat food, try one with tuna or fish in it, it is a good bait.

For coons and possums, I just stick a hot dog on a bamboo skewer in the ground and sit the trap over it with the hot dog sticking up behind the pedal that triggers the trap. That way they have to trigger it to get the bait. Coons are pretty agile and can steal bait.

Ive got some catfish pellets & karo syrup that I could mix up.

just pour it on the ground & place the trap over it.

I like your hot dog stick, might try that too.

I dropped a couple of hot dogs in each trap.

The game camera has been deployed, let's see what happens.

Peanut butter makes it sticky and holds it well. Catfish pellets and corn syrup mixed with peanut butter may work well too.

The cheapest hot dogs are the best, thinner and go between the wires of my trap well. Vienna Sausages work too.

I was robbed by that crafty raccoon.

He stole the hot dogs from outside the trap.

the other smaller trap was drug into the brush, so he stole it too.

This is the same corn theif that empties my deer feeder every year.

He will be relocated as soon as I get him in that trap.
