Members 8pounder Posted July 17, 2014 Members Posted July 17, 2014 My best was 8# caught on my very first fishing trip to TRL 30+ years ago. It was on the last cast of the evening and I was using a Sassy Shad. Thought I was hung in a tree branch until the line started to move. Still have the fish on the wall and the ABU 2500C reel I was using that night. Boats and trucks come in one color - RED, and peanut butter has to be crunchy.
Rodmaker Posted July 17, 2014 Author Posted July 17, 2014 So.......guess nobody really knows. Our best is a 6-1 my son caught last august up the James.
evilcatfish Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 I caught a 9-3 LM on the rock in '99 near Kimberling City on a Chug Bug. Haven't caught one there over 6 since then. Confident there are at least a couple teeners out there though.....somewhere lol
Members dkeefer Posted July 19, 2014 Members Posted July 19, 2014 Frank Fensom caught an 11#15oz. Largemouth on a Bass Buster Twin Spin in the late 1960's. Frank and I both worked fro Shakespeare Tackle Company in the 1970's.
Dirtracer35 Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 My biggest was 7lb 12oz. On a spinnerbait dropped vertical on a dock while my dad was hung up on a dock line. I've seen several come out of there over 8-9. The record has to be somewhere between 11-15 and the state record of 13lb 14oz. Which isn't exact. But at least shows what the lake is capable of.
Pepe Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Guy across the street has a 8lb 12 oz LM replica on the wall. He caught it on Halloween a few years ago and gave it to Bass Pro. I know Pete Wenners caught one over Nine, but I think the one Webb caught is the largest I ever heard of.
Members lollygagger1 Posted July 20, 2014 Members Posted July 20, 2014 8'2oz Rogue 1978....Have seen a Wall of 10 +lbers in Tom Walker's basement caught in late 50s/early 60s.....his dad was Sheriff of Stone Co at that time.....McCord Bend to Wooley Creek......believe there was 8 mounts.....
merc1997 Bo Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 here is what i have known about table rocks biggest bass. in 1963 there was someone that caught a 12-3, and an 11 something on almost back to back casts, and they were weighed in at eagle rock. i did not witness that first hand, but have heard the same exact story from more than one of the local fisherman around here. i have seen a picture of a 17 that was gigged out of roaring river. i was laying on a bathroom scale, but i can tell you that the bass was most definitely that big. back before beaver lake, and the upper end did not have all the cold water coming down, there were plenty of big bass up here. when they started keeping trout alive below beaver dam, that has been a detriment to fishing on the upper end because it has a very negative effect on the spawn. i still feel that we could get back to some better fishing if the mdc would do some stocking. texas is very successful with their stocking programs. bo
magicwormman Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I had always heard that the lake record was over 12 lbs. My personal best was 9.1 taken on a pig/jig around midnight, in April, back in 1985. The water was about 20 feet low and the fish was caught in dogleg cove near point 5. My partner had a similar fish to the boat, that broke him off. They were the only two bites that we had that night. Since the fill kill of 99, big fish have been hard to find for me. My best is 8.8 post spawn fish taken on a jointed thunderstick, near Kimberling City in early May.
OldMillRoad Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Had one over 9 lbs. early this spring. I remember several over 10 being weighed in the 70's at Baxter Boat Dock.
