nathanhooper Posted July 23, 2014 Author Posted July 23, 2014 Yea, your right, while the technology they use is very good, its not that costly for them to produce. These are actually very simple pieces of equipment. They just demand a high price because we will pay for it. More competition would help that and get things at a reasonable level. It would also force them to start making better advances than they have been. But the "land" technology sector has way more customers than the "sea" based ones so they are the ones that get all the attention. Too bad. I would love to help develop some good sonar technology. I have a lot of idea's, but no brain to implement.
Feathers and Fins Posted July 23, 2014 Posted July 23, 2014 I have no doubt if they wanted to they could develop a unit the size of a laptop that could have google earth overlay and 3rd topographical maps you can tilt and create colors for every contour possible as well as take snap shots of the structure you pass over it and render it to 3d and place it on your map as well as have lake level updated to your map from the lakes website. Kicker is there is programs currently available for land based systems and some are free such as Google earth. We fishermen are our worse enemy because we want the shiny lure and will take it and buy it smiling the entire time. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
