Kayser Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 The duck blind is brushed, the hole is mowed, and water has started coming in. One month until teal open up. The goose blind, however, is inaccessible until the corn is picked. But that's alright, because there are fields to hunt until regular season. The groups are getting bigger, and the young are flying. Time to start scouting for honkers, because I'm ready to get hunting. WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
Feathers and Fins Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Duck blinds down south are ready here as well Duck blinds on the lake get built that morning Geese everyplace and I tuned up my Bow last night for them. Life is good and I am ready to send some feathers and feathers. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
mhowerton Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Ran the duck boat last week for the first time since January. Everything seems to be in working order. Just finishing up getting the dog through hand singnals and blind retrieves which is gonna be nice for this season. Gonna re-string about 6 dozen decoys. Need to find some early geese to get after here in a couple weeks. Anticipation is building.
JohnP Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Won't start looking for blinds to set up till about 2 weeks before season myself as you never where the lake level will be come duck season on Bull Shoals . Made that mistake twice, one year the 2 blinds I had built were 6 foot under water, best season to date tho and the other the water dropped 5 foot leaving me on a dry flat 75 yds plus across to the water edge. Won't really start getting things ready till about the end of Sept first of Oct. but will be doing quite a bit of pre-season scouting while fishing .

Bird Watcher Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 I'll get back to y'all as soon as we have 3 consecutive nights below 10 degrees. I don't do mud and waders and anymore.
jdmidwest Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 I got the urge this weekend too. Ran into town and picked up a few supplies to dress up the new layout boat. Painted it, added a paddle holder and a drain plug keeper. Some new deck rigging also. Bought it a nice new hula skirt at Hobby Lobby too. Spent a few minutes in it today with the 5 yo checking it out for function. Still have a seat and some camo rigging to add to it, but farther along than usual for this time of year.
