Launched at dawn, which is about 0600 this time of year, drove over to a spot that is a rocky point between a couple of docks, it's been a good early morning spot for the last couple of years in August. Pulled 4 LM from that spot, 3 keepers, one short. A couple came on a wobble head with a black/blue Megabug and a couple on a c-rigged black Trick worm. After leaving this spot, fishing got tough for a while.

Motored up lake to see if I could find some surface activity, found some schooling bass chasing shad in a pocket off the main lake - caught a 1/2 dozen shorts on the Spy bait, had several others come off - good bite but it only lasted maybe 30 minutes.

And that was it, fished some deep stuff, shallow stuff and stuff in between and no more bites.

I was outta there at 1130.

I hate to keep reading about this spy bait. I do not want to believe.

quill, i think the earlier bites say something about the bite being better then or during dark hours. i went last night and finally figured out where the bite is or most likely where it has been for the last month. i fished out on some really nothing flat stuff about 20 ft. or slightly less, and we really caught them. had at least 10 keepers. three were good 3lbers. i just decided to fish something completely different. what we had been doing sure was not working. we repeated the same thing on several other areas with the same setup, and caught fish off of all of them. now guess i will see how long this situation will last or if it was just a freak deal.

For some reason this year I don't think the fish really made it into there deep summer haunts. I've caught them close to where I was catching them during the spawn. Just out a little deeper. It's been a different year for sure.

That's some good fishing Bo - do you think the full moon may have helped?

we are on the back side of the full moon now. i just think i have just been flat missing where the fish have been. 90% of catching bass is to throwing in front of them. as heitman stated, he has been catching them very close to where they spawned.

those darn green critters are just hard to figure out sometimes. our best bait we caught them on was a beaver type bait rigged on a 3/16 NuJig with a 3/16 bullet weight added to the line. did catch a few on a skirted jig also.

I went in to Hook Line and Sinker in Bella Vista today - they only had 2 left. Now they have only one in stock. :D

Quill would you post a picture of your double knot spy bait? If you have done this and I missed the photo sorry. How far are you counting it down and are you winding it back really slow.

From what I'm hearing the strike is bone jarring. Please if you don't mind give us a tutorial of your technique. Thanks BB

Pulled or not I'm interested lol. We will be staying there next weekend a few days. I'd like to buy one of these before we go so I can list it in the classifieds when we get back.
