Ok I got invited to Forsyth. Where is a good place to Tent Camp? Should I reserve a spot middle of the week?

Ok I have fished Upper Taneycomo, is it the same Lower with Bait and where to fish from the bank? Should I bring heavier Gear for other fish?

Forsyth has a nice city park with good shade for tent camping, right on 160 through town and down the hill just over Swan Creek, turn left after 4 way stop and circle around to park. Across the 76 bridge is the COE ramp and campground. Its ok, but not much shade. You can cross the old bridge in the park drive along the trail to the dam. Many people bank fish just below the Dam. You can continue past the dam and fish the Empire Electric Park, just above the dam, they have docks to fish from etc. You can also drive through the corp park on the south side and fish the other side of the dam. Below the dam, you can catch about anything. Above mostly trout, but water is likely warm, Lower Taney is more of a lake environment down low, below the Dam is more like a large river (which it actually is). You can also drive on over to Kissee Mills park on 160, and fish Beaver Creek, at the park, and just past the bridge is Slough Hollow road, runs down along the river quite a ways it is mostly corps land and plenty of bank fishing.

Ok would it be worth it to take my 18/60 Jon Boat, 70HP and heavier gear for Bass and Catfish?

Grizz is right about the city park, but if you want bank fish at night I would go across the bridge and stay at River Run COE park. Get a spot on the lake front farthest from the ramp if possible. Middle of the week, I was by there Saturday and both were almost empty.

As far as boat fishing goes the Pothole, up the lake from the parks is potluck, anything from small trout to 65# stripers.

To get to Empire park, good for trout either bank fishing or boat, go back across the bridge toward Forsyth and almost immediatly take the road to the left that drops away, stay on that and you can't miss it. Good ramp, good bank access.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Oh the more I hear about Bull Shoals the more excited I get. Problem 100 miles from the House, don't really have a place to stay. Main reason for going is to spend time with my Son. Have fished Upper Taneycomo from bank, most time go up there for couple shows.

Truman Lake is 75 miles from me, we have a Cabin there, 100 feet from COE Land, about 4 miles from Ramp. I do like spending time mostly Hunting but if my wife goes its fishing.

35 Miles from Pomme de Terre Lake and 5 miles from Niangua River.

Drives me nuts thinking. Do have AAA that will tow 100 miles, Pickup gets 16 miles to the gallon. Fixed Income but like to have fun. This coming from a Guy when young was setting here in Missouri, figuring how much it was going to cost to drive to Salida, Colorado? $70, I had $75. Next day setting in Salida, Colorado.

I know it's up to me and my decision just thinking out loud or in print.
