Anybody Catching Any Bass ?

I fished a LO trib yesterday that is flowing a whopping .65cfs and did a lot better than I could have done out on the lake I bet.

How's the smallmouth population on the Pomme river ?

I wasn't saying that you wouldn't catch fish. Fishing will prob be good but on average your prob going to catch a lot of little fish, with the best five going 8-9lbs. If you get the right conditions you could do better. We have had very little to no rain here so the river is at a trickle. And has been most of the year except for one brief period this spring. The small and mean mouth population up the river used to be really good but seems like its kind of went away a little. I think the effect of the draw down a few years back might of hurt the population. 15 years ago when March fishing was tough on the lake you could always go up there and catch a limit of them. We use to go break ice to get to them. The best I ever saw caught was by my partner back then was 4lbs. It was always great to see the guys face at weigh in you would bring a sack full of them brownish fish to the scales, you hear a pin drop. But as always word would get out and you would have everyone up there with you. I used to love the days in the summer when all the guys would run up the river in the morning and al but be gone by 10. That's when we would go up there and wack'em. The river has changed so much, it just doesn't produce like it used to. Not saying it won't ever or can't ever again.

Interesting. I just always wondered how the Pomme river fared. I hear so little about it that I often forget that it even exists.

We had a 7 boat his/hers derby this past weekend out of Nemo bridge resort, fished 5:30 till 1:30. We ended up with 11.58 lbs anchored by 4.87 lb fish. All our fish caught 15 to 25 foot deep flats near channel breaks. Fished Sunday 5:30 till 10:00 and wife had a 3.87 and only fished we boated, had 4 other bites, lost 3 of the fish and played tug a war with another. Saw lots of boats fishing way offshore as we were amongst skiers and tubers. There was also a Joe a Bass Saturday, not sure how they did. Was not looking forward to fishing with heat but turned out relatively nice with strong breeze Saturday. All fish caught on shaky heads.

Was up Pomme river last week had 8 keepers best was 4 lbs rest 14-15 inch caught flipping jig, buzz bait and chug bug got in river around 10 am and out out 3 pm. Caught all fish above no wake at docks to PP bridge.
