This is true. It is one fine piece of work with nice features. Surely a great product. My only knock on it would be that it is as heavy as a rock.

I use a table clamp vise so I don't have to carry the heavy base in my briefcase size portable tying kit bag.

I changed out photos of my latest change.

I cut the slots for the thread bobbins at an angle so that when you pick any of the units up, they won’t fall out. As a backup plan, I also ordered some badass magnets that I epoxied to the

bottom of the stone, so when the thread bobbins are positioned in their slots, the magnets are also holding them in place. As you can also see in both of these photos, I moved the threads from the top,to a secure location just beneath the 2nd level, so again when you grab the unit by the handle, your spare threads ain’t going no where. I’ve also epoxied the same magnets underneath - where your vise clamps so that your scissors, whip finisher and whatever else you need is right at your finger tips. This unit is made of quartz, which is a man made product. I personally like granite because the looks are more appealing and I fabricate both for a living and the smell of quartz is god awful, but when your tying

flies, who gives 2 shits about how good your base looks right? Thus, the quartz is 25% lighter and a hell of a lot more durable. (its more expensive than granite, but for those last 2 factors…its a wash in the end).

Corky 69 - old timer - thanks for calling me out on this. i spent a dung ton of time trying to figure out a way to not bullshit anyone regarding its portability, I’ve been fishing with it every weekend, using all three of the models that i’ve posted pics of. by moving the spare threads where they are shown, I’m all done. all the threads can 100% stay and scissors, and whatever tools you want to leave on….the magnets hold like hell. , Materials - dubbing, feathers etc, I planned on throwing in my box anyways.

I personally prefer a base thats got weight to it. Ive used pieces of stone that weighed under 10lbs and it was very unstable.

flysmallie I appreciate the sentiment - $125.00 for the jr 13lbs. (which by the way the spare threads will be moved to the same location as the unit shown above)

$250.00 for the sr. currently 22lbs, Im going to try to shave a few more lbs tomorrow,

I’ll be at bennett on saturday if anyone want to check any of them out, zone 2 between stream & hatchery below the stone bridge.

When you get older and wiser you tend to be a little better prepared. I try to have things ready before I head out, including plenty of flies I might need. I've lugged my tying gear on plenty of trips, but I have rarely tied many flies out on the road. It sounds cool to tie streamside, but I've never found it practical. I think there's likely a larger market for a desktop tying unit.

Also, and this is just my opinion, but you may be overselling a bit. Tell us what you've got, we'll decide. Accept feedback without playing the triple bypass card :D

And registering a second account to try to turn the tide of opinions....well, I'd hope we wouldn't resort to that.

I picked up a really nice streamside tying setup a few years ago as part of flyfishing setup. I have never used it but its really nice, it has about everything you would ever need,

Its kinda heavy and about 2 feet by 1 and a half, by 1 and a half, about 30 pounds.

But its really nice!
