LittleRedFisherman Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 It was about this time last year, that Kyle (Hoglaw) I think it was brought this up. It turned out to be a great time dispite some imclimate weather. Who'd like to do this agiain this year, and any idea's if we wanna do something similar to last year. It was a great time, good fellowship and fishing! We did this in December last year, any idea's just throw them out there, nows the time to start planning. For those who didn't go, here's a little video I made from last years trip, its all about the fishing in this vid, but there was a lot of food and fellowship I wish i'd put in there to.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8go2QDoPiQ There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Ham Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I'd love to do it again. The sooner we get some dates nailed down, the better chance I'll be able to attend. Is doing it between Thanksgiving and Christmas better for most? Weekend better than during the week? If we do a Friday,Saturday, and Sunday, ppl can make whatever part of it they could. Thanks for getting the ball rolling LRF. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
hoglaw Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Yes I'm for sure in again. I'll make whatever date happen. A big plus from last year was the crazy temps and the fact that we had 24 miles of river completely to ourselves. That was cool. But as it happens, my wife told me to get out of the house on the weekend of November 8th. That's also the opening weekend of modern gun I think which may be a problem for some. So I'm going to go to the river that weekend. That may or may not be a good one for the official trip which I will also attend.
ScottK Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Where would be a good place to stay if I tried to make a couple days of this?
Quillback Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I'm open as far as dates, I do like the November/December time frame as the fish sure were biting and as Kyle said, the river was wide open.
LittleRedFisherman Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 Yes, for my schedule, late November and into December would be best for me, because here on the farm, my cotton crop is looking late, and i'll be picking in November this year it's looking like. If we keep catching rains, it could push late into the month... But you never know, it's hard to me to say right now, things can change. I'm with Kyle on that wide open river, that was amazing to have one of the finest resources for trout fishing maybe in the world, all to ourselves, very cool! I liked the Rileys station last year, and those stretches of river we fished, but i'm up for anything. If we get enough folks in on this, we could rent that sweet cabin next to the one we had last year... There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Ham Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 The traffic on the river is ALWAYS greatly reduced that time of year. The brutal weather made it extra so, but it won't be crowded. The fall is my favorite time of the year to trout fish. Cooler weather is pleasant to me , but scares some folks off. You also have some folks that are hunting and some folks are busy watching football and heck I think a lot of people only fish during the summer. it all adds up to plenty of trout very willing to bite. Ham Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 iI'd love to fish with you again Andy. Setting the date is always the hardest part. I usually stay at my house. Last year the group stayed at Riley's station and that seems like a good fit, but AGAIN we need to establish the days involved and see if there is room available at Riley's station.
