Members mattholder Posted September 15, 2014 Members Posted September 15, 2014 Anyone want to ride along to help with testing launching at State park or Old 86 ramps! Going early if no fog! Three colors are tied on and ready to go!
Members mattholder Posted September 18, 2014 Author Members Posted September 18, 2014 Caught a two smallmouths while spybaiting not going very deep with it mainly secondary points. Would rather had some sunshine! I have come to a conclusion on a few things throwing this thing far is easy 6# fluro will be my line choice with a 6'6" Lew's spin combo I first used this combo for wacky rigged senkos. I can feel little fish slapping at this bait while coming back to me and lost two that where 15' deep. It is fun to throw the Duo 80 I will be stocking up on some more colors and the 90s and gfix80! Fish On!
Ham Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I get bit almost everytime I fish it. Not every cast you understand, but when I pull up on a point and fish it, I will generally get bit, but the numbers of bass are NOT where I want to be. I'm going to fish it more, but I'm not jumping onboard withthe 90's or GFix 80's. It needs to produce more bass and larger bass. I need to put it in the right places more often. I'm convinced it wil work, but I'm still working out better places to throw it. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Quillback Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Bill Babler is hinting in some of his posts that he is getting fish on it. I haven't fished it much lately myself.
huntest Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 I have been having some better results in the last few days using the G Fix in Ghost Shad with 8lb Invisix. I have been letting it fall longer and winding it in a bit faster than before. Another thing that seems to be helping with hookups is fighting my tendancy to set the hook.....just trying to let it load up like a topwater bite.
Champ188 Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Hey huntest, what kind of hook modifications are you making, if any?
huntest Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Champ I have not modified either the regular Duo or the G Fix...I am afraid that swapping hooks might hurt the action... I just got back in from several more hours of "field work" and here is a little more update.....found some feeding Spots in a creek channel so I was able to get bit quite a bit.....as I mentioned earlier you want to be patient and let them load the rod.....you can get up to 3 small bumps before they take it....I don't know whether they are competing with other fish or trying to stun it....got to let them have it which is hard for me!!
Members mattholder Posted September 19, 2014 Author Members Posted September 19, 2014 I agree that you have to have active fish pursing baitfish I was not in the right area when I have thrown this lately, but when I did see fish chasing on the electronics I would get a bite or swatted at when dropping to them. With other bites coming on this will still be something for me to tinker with!
