jerry241 Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Polar vortex, arctic blast etc. I always just called it winter....
Guest Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 I think we're entering a cooling phase similar to some of the winters in the early 1980's Summer wasn't hot & spring couldn't get ahead of the lingering winter. Combine that with a potential El Nino, we could be in for a bad one. Lake effect snows = 6ft already! CRAZY! I'm going to fish for smallmouth until the glacier sets in.

I agree could be a series of colder winters for a bit. It looks that area will get some rain over the next week which is probably going to cause some major flooding. They are used to big snows, but this is probably a once in a 100 year type event for that area.
stlfisher Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 When I was living in Oregon we accumilated 24" over a span of about 3 weeks and I thought that was too much. Yeah I can't imaging how much damage 6 feet of snow will do. It is even more remarkable how localized it is. Some areas a few miles away have only a few inches....and they can literally see a wall of snow a few miles away. We get a few inches hear and the city shuts down...
