Njardar Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I'm headed to Montauk on the 15th and would appreciate any recommended locations for scenic or wildlife photo opportunities when we're not fishing. For example are there any hiking trails along the river with good access for viewing waterfowl and the like? Thanks in advance! - Charlie
Members fireman Posted October 5, 2014 Members Posted October 5, 2014 WWW.BOHOLLOW.COM $5 entry and it includes bbq lunch best old time "town". great for pictures
jdmidwest Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 There is a pretty good trail from Baptist access to Ashley Creek. It starts across from the upper parking lot and runs down river, crosses and goes along other side. Pine groves, bluffs, river, and other scenery. Hard to miss, usually worn out by horses. ness Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Spend some time looking at things around you rather than looking for scenery. John
Gavin Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Take a boat & float. Fish, take pics of stuff, have fun. That's actually an old road JD. There is an old concrete bunker that it serviced. Bunker is still there.

Bunker is still there. That bunker makes a nice place to wait out a storm. I just assumed it was an old foundation or cellar. Why do you think it was a bunker of some sort? Njardar Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014 Spend some time looking at things around you rather than looking for scenery. That's my plan, I'll be looking for places to observe the natural wildlife and hopefully get some good shots.

Sounds like there might be some good opportunities to observe wildlife from the trail. I have a 150-600mm arriving this week and I'm looking forward spending some time with it. - Charlie

Njardar Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014 Is that the Tamron I keep hearing so many good things about? It is, I read a lot of good reviews on it and have seen some photos taken with it, so I decided to get one.
