Forget the Alabama Rig. Would be next to impossible to fish out of a Kayak. Might turn your boat over, trying to cast the thing! Just too heavy, special rod and reel, etc.......

So:

Jigs with craw trailers

Ned rig- I found images of this. Basically a jig head and short, straight soft bait

Curly tailed grub like baits on a jig head fished slow or jigged straight down

PB&J, green, green/orange, green pumpkin colors

Am I wasting time with spinners and crankbaits?

Ok, one thing that is messing with my mind is the depths of Table Rock. I looked at your topomap and see a lot of darn near vertical drop-offs from 20 to 100 feet deep. What is a good depth to look for? Would they be off the drop-offs this time of year or in the flatter parts? These baits mentioned, are they fished mostly on the bottom, swimming, or vertical jigging?

I do want to put the wife on both walleye and smallmouth at least as we don't have much of those around here.

I do have a fish finder as well but I've only used it a few times so I'm not real proficient with it. I can get the depth and structure most of the time but have trouble reading fish or baitfish.

I hate to ask so many questions. I'm trying to get the wife more interested in fishing. I just got into kayaking and want her to join and enjoy it. If you're out and you see a mango colored Nucanoe come by and say hello!

On to other things. Thanks for the appreciation for my service. It has been a pleasure and I've enjoyed it. My wife said there is a military veteran museum of some kind up there. We plan on checking it out along with the Titanic museum. Also going to take a train ride but the reviews on the boat ride around Table Rock were not good. Any other ideas you can suggest?

Again, thanks for all the help.

Day trip down here to Eureka Springs, a Victorian era spa town with hundreds of eccentric crafts and oddities shops but few chains.
