tippet7 Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I was able to get in the water yesterday for only the 2nd time this year. I have rotator cuff damage, so I wasn't sure how long I would be able to stay out there. Beautiful afternoon, 2 units running when I got there around 1230. Started off below outlet 1 with egg and worm, nothing. Went to a streamer, got a couple of hits but nothing to hand. Switched to a gray scud when 1 unit shut down and caught 2 `bows on 3 casts. Nothing huge, 17 inches and 16 inches, but they sure were pretty, fat and healthy and colorful. Shoulder started getting worn out around 230 so started making my way back. Decided against my better judgement to fish in outlet 1. It was crowded and people looked to be trying to snag. It looked like to me that there was no reason to be pulling the fly that hard out of the water. I didn't even bother to cast. Going to try and get out at night pretty soon. You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
Smalliebigs Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I never have understood the snaggers down there this time of year???? What a bunch of pieces of dung IMO, that's about as gay as it gets in the fishing world.....I can only hope when they draw their fly back way to hard in an attempt to snag a Brown they snag their own face deeply.
Flysmallie Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I never have understood the snaggers down there this time of year???? It's never really bothered me too much. Yes it's ignorant, but it congregates all the ignorant people into small groups that can be easily avoided. If you are willing to walk a little then you can find a place to yourself. Â Â

I agree with you there for sure....it forms a gaper line of geeks where the fish are trying to get back into the hatchery.....I just think it's stupid and counter productive to trying to get Browns bigger there. I guess I just feel sorry for the fish but, I know I talk out of my arse all the time, so I guess I shouldn't really worry about it. fishing is a niche sport that attracts all kinds of freaks who may not have the same ethics towards the resource that I do....I am a selfish trophy hunter.
tippet7 Posted October 23, 2014 Author Posted October 23, 2014 The other thing about all those people snagging, they were hootin` and hollering thinking it was big fun foul hooking a trout. You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
ciRe Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Snaggers aren't as bad as the people who use cheese worms or power bait up there. I launched my boat at the ramp up there when they turned on 3 units and there were 3 other boats. Two of them had guides and 1 other boat was just regular people. One boat who had guides were using worms and the regular boat using power bait. They were keeping them being in violation of the slot limit and the power bait guys kept one that was 22". They were going right up to the darn and doing this too.
tippet7 Posted October 23, 2014 Author Posted October 23, 2014 I hope you called conservation or at least call the guide service and let them know you saw what they did. Was one of the guides one that guarantee fish? You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
ciRe Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Called operation game theft and nothing happened. Even told the lady I talked to on the phone if he met me at the ramp I would take him to them but never got a call back. And yes he was one of those. I honestly think the conservation doesn't care about Taney as soon as bow season starts but that just might be what I'm thinking and what I see from being there off of deer season and during deer season.
tippet7 Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 With only 2 agents for taney county, they get spread pretty thin. What guides? You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 24, 2014 Root Admin Posted October 24, 2014 Take a pic of the boat - esp the boat you think were guides - and post it here. Also if you're at the dam, you can go to the hatchery, if open, and tell them. Take it with your cell phone. If you don't have a camera, note the descrip of the boat(s) and details about the person who you think is a guide. nothing else, call me at 417.337.4130 and I'll call the agent. I would really like to know if guides are using bait or keeping fish.
