Champ188 Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 This is gonna be short and sweet coz there's not much to tell. Donna and I started at 7:30 at Sweetwater in the Kings. Slick water and high blue skies for the first sevecral hours. Managed a few on a jig and shaky head, including one nice keeper, working shady 45-degree banks up in the river. Finally got a little wind around noon and proceeded to catch a few on a spinnerbait running windy bluff ends. Tried working a jerkbait fast in some of the same areas but no takers. No love on a crank bait either. Finished the day down around Shell Knob on a couple of pet drop-shot spots and caught 2-3 more keeper spots and several fat 14-inchers. Zoom finesse worms in a couple of shades of watermelon and also plum did the trick for those. In summary, caught 20 with 3-4 keepers fishing 1-40 feet deep. Yeah, it's still pretty tough and the fish are still in a summer pattern --- some are here and some are there. Cool front this week should help.
Quillback Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Thanks for the report, that's a good day. Thought about trying a jerker myself last time I was out.
J-Doc Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 In the short time I bass fished Saturday on Beaver (which wasn't enough time spent), I too noticed does seem to still have a mixed pattern. Beaver is ALWAYS tough in me in the fall. Evidently they don't have a Bassmaster subscription and know they should be in the back of creeks and secondary points feeding up. They like to roam out in the main channel and suspend deep. I'd like to get some quality bass fishing in before winter. Maybe I need to drop my latest copy of Bassmaster overboard so they can study up and get right. Lol And the day you don't catch a bass on a War Eagle spinner bait with matching grub trailer in your most productive color in the fall is the day you get mad at those green fish. rps Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Excellent report. As good as you are, limited results. Though out there.
*T* Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Donna, nice LM. Remember, let you partner catch one occasionally. "Water is the driving force of all Nature."Â -Leonardo da Vinci
Donna G Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Thanks. Poor Champ is so busy guiding me that I get the drop on him once in awhile. He likes to see me catch 'em. fishingaddiction Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 That is a decent Fall fishing day for numbers, but sounds like the better fish are still out deep. Lower water temps will help the bite. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Champ188 Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 Hope so, addiction. Ready to start catching some better fish.
GREENTRITON Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Waiting for the fish to turn on also, mark me down for a big zero on Mon.
Donna G Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I know that's not a jig in my hand. SURELY I wouldn't be fishing a jig? . Think that was the first catch of the day. Decent one to break the skunk. Champ needs to break out his editing skills and post more flattering pictures of his partner.
