Champ188 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Does LOZ have hybrids, also called wipers? They're a cross between whites and stripers. Just curious because the broken lines on the lower sides of both of those fish look like hybrids. What do some of you other guys think?
96 CHAMP Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Well champ to be perfectly honest I do not know whether or not they are hybrids, I wiil look into that this evening, I have this fishing app from mdoc and will check it out and yes there are hybrids in this lake, more so on the dam area and Osage I believe, years back I did catch one that was close to seven. Tomorrow I will give a good look over of these fish and see what I can determine. Thanks
96 CHAMP Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Very good fishinwrench, was wandering where to get more info will check it out tomorrow
fishinwrench Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 The ones shown, and most of what you'll catch in Indian Cr. are straight Whites. Some of them are big enough to make ya wonder though. Did you go today ? You're a boss if ya did. I bet that bank had 20" waves banging it today.
Champ188 Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Thanks, Wrench. I'll take your word for it. I know a straight striper from a straight white but I get bumfuzzled when you throw in the wipers.
96 CHAMP Posted November 4, 2014 Posted November 4, 2014 Oh ya, fished all day and had a blast, the wind about blew me away few times but when the fish are on it is easier to take
96 CHAMP Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I looked em over as i was cleaning and they were all whites, I think they may have been in a false spawn pattern, they were right on the bank stacked up in a area no longer than 30 yards in length on the side of a dock, the reason i think this is i found no baitfish in any of them and nothing in the livewell, a few had somewhat of a egg sack in them, beats me what they were doing there but it was a blast and got the freezer stocked for winter.
fishinwrench Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Been studying those critters hard for 8 years now. The Fall haunts have a lot to do with bottom composition. I'm 99% sure I know where you're at, and if you idle straight SW from that spot you'll find a channel swing drop (looks like a series of humps on the LCR) with some broken rock along it. About 100'from the bank. It actually gets better as the lake level drops out a bit.
96 CHAMP Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 I had thought about fishing that channel swing as I went by, as far as the other place you pinpointed, well that is rather funny, it is right next to my buddy's dock!!! He has the 3 bay dock his moms house sits in front of the dock and he resides in the trailer on the hill across the road, the house to the right belongs to his cousins in California. Was wandering if you mind if I ask if you live down there??
