5bites Posted November 15, 2014 Author Posted November 15, 2014 I rigged up a bolt to attach to a heavy action flipping stick. When I'm out wade fishing in the warmer months, I stick the go pro under a deep logjam. You would be amazed at the fish down there that you wouldn't see otherwise. Give it a try I want to do this especially with docks. It'll freak me out the first few times though dunking the camera. I assume wifi disconnects at that point so live viewing wouldn't jive which is a bummer. Of course you could immediately review it via wifi after pulling it back out. I was thinking that a guy could get good spawn bed fishing footage using a gopro.
Flysmallie Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Yeah as soon as it goes under the surface the wifi is gone. I've tested that in my aquarium. Â Â
5bites Posted November 15, 2014 Author Posted November 15, 2014 Still it would be a blast to try. I need to get one of those floating retractable poles.
Jdecoudres Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 I nothing about the gopros but I am interested in getting one. Can someone lead me in the right directions.
5bites Posted November 16, 2014 Author Posted November 16, 2014 Well I'm no expert at all but as always it depends on your budget. I have a 3+ silver. I'd like a 4+ silver. The 4+ black is overkill for most people. You can compare them side by side on gopros site. The wifi feature is important to me because the phone app makes using it a lot easier and handier too.
Members Beaverdamstore Posted November 22, 2014 Members Posted November 22, 2014 Got a replacement for my 3+Black. I am impressed and getting a lot of videos both under water and above. Jim
bs1827 Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I love my GoPro Hero 3+ Black. The remotes that come with the black are very handy when you're wade fishing. If you have a GoPro do yourself a favor and check out DIYGoPro.com. There are a bunch of great ideas for DIY mounts.
ollie Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 The best website I have found for the camera is eyeofmine.com That place has all the info and stuff you could ever want for your GoPro. "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
Jdecoudres Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 What mount do you use when you are fly fishing. Do you record your whole trip or how do you know when you are going to record. Has any got any experience of mounts for drift boats?
