OBBT Staff Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 The 2015 schedule is live and online registration is now open! Up on Table Rock May 16-17th. All info at www.oakleybigbass.com
5bites Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 I'm hoping you guys come around and remove the rule of no firearms in the boat. I haven't seen another series with that.
Moswimb8slinger Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Why the hell do you need anything other than a flare gun on the boat? Expecting pirates on Table Rock?
5bites Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 I carry everywhere. Most ccw permit holders do.
Members Grubber Posted November 17, 2014 Members Posted November 17, 2014 I carry everywhere. Most ccw permit holders do. I'm with you, the old saying "rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it" works for me too, heck, most of the time I forget I've got it on Mike Colvin

5bites Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 And therein lies the problem with THAT. What specifically is "that?" People carrying or forgetting? I take the forgetting as more of a sign of comfort. It not like I notice that I have my wallet on me. That type of comfort.

It not like I notice that I have my wallet on me. That type of comfort. Yeah, anything you carry all the time becomes an object of carelessness eventually. Just human nature. How often have you lost or dropped your wallet, keys, cell phone, sunglasses, ect. ? And even if YOU never do, rest assured that MOST people do. If you are forgetting that you have it then IMO you aren't gonna need it, and if/when you do you won't be able to think clearly enough to use it to anyone's benefit. You're better off keeping yourself physically fit, and trading your flip-flops for a good pair of running shoes.
5bites Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Well we don't see eye to eye on that but whatever. If you aren't comfortable with it then by all means do not carry. I on the other hand am and am capable. My gun is secured whether on or off my person. The point is I can legally carry. I can carry at the same lake on the same day as the Oakley tournament. Why have a redundant pointless rule? It would be the equivalent of them adding a speed limit to the lake that day. Actually that would make even more sense. I know I don't have to fish it if I disagree. I won't. In fact I didn't fish Grand because of this rule. Is it an insurance thing that somehow only affects Oakley? Or an agenda? As a "customer" I'm just giving feedback to them. Also before the age old question "are you expecting trouble" question is raised the answer is no. If I was expecting trouble anywhere I'd avoid that place. The fact is I don't know when or if I'll need it which is the reason I carry. Nobody expects there life to be in danger in everyday life.
fishinwrench Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Right on. I just think you should always wear a vest too. It ain't cool, and seems kinda lopsided, to be prepared to shoot someone yet not be prepared to be shot at. Kinda implies that you only intend to draw down on an unarmed person. I'm done. Been in this discussion too many times before. To each their own.
