that's true,

I know a guy who has been throwing the same color 4" grub and catching those brownies on it since April.

He had me order 25 bags for him, lol.

Back in Sept. around the thermocline on deep structure... 2 people in the boat,40-50 in just 3-4 hrs. was typical.

Man, I hate to pull a fish up from "deep" water. I try not to fish deepr than 35 foot or so for that reason. Was he catching them on bottom in depths > 40 foot? Just curious, but I am NOT likely to be on the lake from July until October anyway. Too much fun to be had on creeks and rivers.

no bottom bites I guess, all suspended offshore about the thermocline

sitting at the mouth of deep coves over humps and adjacent to bluffs/channels on the main lake

and sunburns were common,lol

Sounds awesome. I would have been trying to force feed them underspins, spybaits, and flutter spoons. I do love a grub though.

I think you can throw the Ned in more wind than you imagine and wind was not required for my fish.

I don't think the fish go anywhere. They just hunker down a little tighter to cover and are less willing to move. They'll still eat a little.

I lost a couple of jigs to zebra mussels. I saw lots and lots and lots of them in Music creek area. Not gonna be as easy to fish jigs anymore and any fish that wraps you on wood is GONE.

You can throw it in a ton of wind. Just have to approach it a little differently. Get closer to them, make shorter casts at 90 degrees to the bank/structure instead of throwing down the bank. Put your tip down to the surface to keep the wind off your line.

Have had some big days on TR fishing it in bad wind, from the bank out to 30' or so. Just takes a different mindset.

I wish the rain would have allowed for a few more pictures. The 17 inch Spot I caught was an absolute beast. So fat.
