You didn't mention a slip, but keep in mind, if you leave it in a slip, the boat must be registered to the same person that owns the slip.

What you talking about Willis? I've got a boat in a slip I don't own, owner lets me use it year round free.

You'll have to put the boat on your stepsons personal tax or go in and set up yiur own. You have to have a tax receipt or something from the tax office saying it has been declared.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Hust Google Misspuri boats Registration laws. It is all there is plain simple language. Only change I see in the law is the 30 day limit has become 60. Have never ever seen it enforced on LOZ. Just read it for yourself. I do not know where some of this information comes from.

When the dock permit comes up for renewal, the Corps asks for a list of slip owners and the tag #'s for each watercraft they have in each slip. Then, when they do the visual inspection they cross-reference with that list and check the tag #'s and registration. If not in compliance, they can refuse to issue a dock permit. I know because we had that issue on our dock.

That is 100% correct. I would just add that the slip owner and the boat owner do not have to be the same person and the slips are not to be rented.

Personal Property Taxes in johnson county, Ks (Olathe) are out of sight. Tens yrs ago the PP taxes on my 2000 Triton were $750. I own land in Stone Cnty so i called and said I'd like to pay them the PP Tax. They asked where it was registered and I told them Ks. They said you usually pay PP Taxes where it"s registered. I just said could I pay PP Tax to you after a moments pause they we'll mail you the paper work and i've been paying ever sense. First bill was $183 I think its still about $170. I love fishing in Missouri so I wanted Missouri to get the money it wasn't about saving the money (LOL). I guess I could register it in Mo. but it's a problem when its home.

REAL BAD IDEA FULLMOON. Some of these counties in Mo are way out of line on personal property taxes. The county I live in wants the farmer to pay personal property taxes on the live stock he has. They collect enough money to throw away.

Well I would think that you would owe the taxes to the state, county or wherever you are resident. To do otherwise would be evading the taxes where you have an established resident. You may get away with it until one day some government official wakes up and sees that they are not receiving the tax revenue on their registered watercraft. A person could become liable for several years of back taxes. Just because a person owns property in another state and resides some where else does not allow you to pick out where you want to pay personal property taxes based on cheaper tax rates..... If you want to pay Missouri county personal taxes then move here and establish a permanent residents and pay our other taxes also. Just my opinion and everyone has one.....

GNSfishing you act like i tricked someone so i guess my post wasn't clear i'll try again. I called the Kansas county and asked what if i pay the PP tax somewhere else and they said to provide a paid receipt and that will take care of it. This i have done for 10 YEARS with no problem maybe it is a loop hole in the law. So i took your post as only applying to me and not Grumpy53 even tho he is a Kansas resident wanting to register his boat in Missouri for which there is no real advantage other than the personal property tax. Please let me know what i'm doing wrong I don't want any trouble but I do feel i covered the bases.
