Members The Bassman Posted December 6, 2014 Members Posted December 6, 2014 I've got next week off and would like to get on some Stripers/hybrids/whites. Can anyone recommend a good guide? Thanks.

Ron Burgundy Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 U ever hire a guide Bassman? Gone but not forgotten Martin Ford
Members TTJJ Posted December 18, 2014 Members Posted December 18, 2014 Two co-workers and I hired an 8-hour striped bass trip on Beaver Lake back in 2009. After fishing for awhile that July morning with no bites, the guide went back to shore, pumped out bait tank and discarded shad, refilled bait tank and added shad. Went back out, ended up with zero striped bass. One co-worker and I hired an 8-hour walleye trip back in 2008 in this area. We caught zero walleyes. Good luck.
chub minnow Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 TTJJ - If you wanna catch strippers you don't need a guide, just try a $20 bill on a circle hook. I hear they are congregating around the AR / MO line on I-49 this time of year.....
nomolites Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I have fished with Don a half dozen times; 3 or 4 guys limited all but one of those outings and we just had a 17 that trip. Had a good time every time. His system is simple and effective; first time out I thought he was crazy. I stand corrected. Mike
Members The Bassman Posted December 20, 2014 Author Members Posted December 20, 2014 Ron I did hire a guide, his name was Brad Wiegman. Had a good day, caught several whites and learned about fishing jigging spoons. Caught several small LM on crank baits and the highlight of my day was a 16in Smallmouth. Also got a good education on electronics. Just what the DR ordered.
Feathers and Fins Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Brad is a very good guy, You will get an education fishing with him which to me is more valuable than sitting in a boat pulling shad around and reeling in a fish every-so-often. The education you can take with you anyplace the shad not so much. Old saying " Give a man a fish he will eat for a day. "Teach a man to fish he will win tournaments and catch more fish". https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Members The Bassman Posted December 20, 2014 Author Members Posted December 20, 2014 Agree 100%. Brad was a great guy to spend the day with and it was highly educational for me. I fish the BV lakes mostly and will try to transfer the things I learned up there. Jigging spoons were a mystery to me before, but now I have confidence I can find and catch some of those open water fish. I don't have quite as good electronics as he does but I do have down imaging so I should be ok. I'm anxious to get out and apply the knowledge.
