Fishrman Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Fished with our high school fishing team yesterday most first time on water poetry tough at eagle rock between two boats 6-7 fish 2 keepers all coming on jigs on rolloffs. Saw Mr Babler loading out at 11 think I know why. Good time anyway.
J-Doc Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/BalZout_Electronics_Mounts_/descpage-BALZ.html Yeah, that's a sure enough mount right there. I thought about going that route. I think you will like it a lot. I'll make a deal with you. You show me how to fish the Ned and I'll teach you the HDS10. I just can't fish the Ned. No patience. I get bored way too quickly. Unless there are fish biting. If they are biting, I can fish it all day long. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
dtrs5kprs Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Just don't show him how to put one in his thumb. On the Ned heads...weedless is the deal. If not weedless, look at running a cheap and light hook that will straighten out.
merc1997 Bo Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Like many, I ventured out today. I cannot post pictures of fish as I did not do well. However, I learned valuable information that may help others. 1. The new Z-Man T.R.D. on their Z-Man mushroom heads work well together. They also will hook almost anything ... rocks, limbs, motor housings and thumbs fo sure. When I find out I will advise on whether they hook fish. 2. Water temp up here is betwee 49 and 50. 3. I found the owner of the white houseboat cleaning spotted bass and walleye when I came in. He reports the fish have begun to enter the winter pattern he will fish from now to March. He creeps along at .3 to .5 mph dragging a jig baited with a live minnow. His fish today were between 19 and 25 feet deep. Hope this helps you. here is a head that would make your "nedding" end up with better hook ups, and very few hang ups. bo
rps Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 bo How light can you make your head? Something in the 1/16th to 1/12th range would be fantastic! You would own the Ned market.
merc1997 Bo Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 right now, we are planning on starting with a 1/8, and that is if i can get the manufacturing process figured out. i think we are very close if i can find a coating for some pins that molten lead will not stick to. a company told me that they have something like aluminum nitrite that will work. trying to get a sample pin to try. getting smaller will depend on clearance of the hook for guide arms. that will be something to be worked on once we get this first size into production. the material for the guide arms took a while to come up with. now, it is being able to mass produce it. we crappie fish most days with one jig. what is that worth?? bo
rps Posted December 15, 2014 Author Posted December 15, 2014 I understand. The concept flat works. At the extreme edges of production, difficulties arise. A double guard on a small jig ig a challenge.
Quillback Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 bo How light can you make your head? Something in the 1/16th to 1/12th range would be fantastic! You would own the Ned market. No kidding, I can't believe no one has come to market with a snag less Ned head. Zman makes Shroom heads, but with no weed guard. About the only place you can throw one is on a gravel point.
dtrs5kprs Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 There is a good deal of anti-guard sentiment among the "Ned community". Goes back to the fact Ned does not use weedless heads, and a feeling they will miss fish with a guard. Might be true to some degree if you are swimming it a lot. Have even talked with a couple of TR guides who prefer the heads with open hooks. In the watershed type lakes here in NEKS and NWMO guys get by without a guard because they fish a lot of grass, rip rap, sparse wood. Not as much multi directional wood to deal with, and no dock cables. Drives me nuts trying to fish one without as guard on TR. Too much wood and brush. A guard lets you go exploring. Would have had the weedless heads going if not for the football issues this summer. Trying to work back to that point.
