Conservation Community Prepares To Defend Mdc Funding

SOMEBODY is going to have to spend a lot of money defeating these things. Repealing the sales tax would go to a vote of the people. What percentage of Missourians really cares enough about the things MDC protects and provides? What percentage of the people who seldom or never use anything MDC provides even knows about the sales tax? How many people would vote to repeal it simply because it's the dreaded T word? I don't know, but it worries me. And the legislature would be happy to pass the buck to the people and hope they vote to repeal it.

As for the free permit thing, that's scary, too. I think they might be able to make it pass constitutional muster.

And consider this...if we don't make a big stink about this, even if neither thing gets passed this time, it just encourages the legislature to try it again until it does.

They might oughta gas up those new trucks and go put some posters up at all the accesses.

I bet if you asked 50 of the guys that use the access just down the road from me there might be 2 that are even aware of this.

Of course they would likely be the only two out of the 50 that are actually registered voters. LOL
