I had an old friend in town the last two days so we went out yesterday. No im not insane but when a friend you haven't seen in 6 years has a chance to go you go. Water temp at Hickory was 39.0 and in Monte Ne of 41.3 that is a almost 7 to 9 degree temp drop since last Saturday. We found the fish but could not get them to bite. It was so cold my boat stuck to the trailer in the 7 mile ride from my house to the Launch and Monte Ne and my livewell lid froze, Today the rod locker is froze as is my ice chest locker. My boat is in the garage with a fan on it and heater but this cold is to much.

My advise is take a week off, Next Saturday looks good right now and the fish should be biting.

As to the PB weight. I am not surprised one bit the bass have been very shallow and decent sized prior to this "Polar whatever the Weather Channel names it this year"

Hey we made plans months ago. Mother Nature is the one uncontrollable. We went we had a great time together caught up and had good coffee and laughs. He got to see a beautiful lake and has already made plans for a return in the spring. I called it a great day more about the company than the fish or game.

I beg to differ, LOL.

Yep. I quickly reminded him calling me crazy when I fished during the PB. LOL!!!

Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message.

He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!

In regards to releasing striped bass...it depends on water and air temperature, the size of the fish, as well as how long the fish has been hooked (stressed). Since they are cool water fish, they survive release better when the water and air temps are below 70, particularly the larger fish. Younger, smaller fish (below 20 inches) can tolerate warmer water catch and release better than the adults. Generally speaking, don't release the adults in the summer season, particularly if they have been caught deep, which is usually the case. Sub twenty inchers can be released during the summer and have a good chance of surviving as long as they are not kept in the live well for long.

Joe, You know I love you like a brother, but I find it impossible to believe anyone past you. Your boat is like a race horse if another one gets in front of it, it just gets all mad and upset and scrapes it prop on the water and takes off to outrun them lol.

You have a point, bub. For whatever reason, she REALLY gets offended if a boat slides up beside her and hangs there for a minute.

Guess I should have said that I was trolling-motor-down fishing around the Hickory public launch when the other boats kept going past me :)
