Sprint21fter Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Launched out of Old 86 and fished a 2 mile area around the ramp. It was tough, fished the A-rig predominately around timber in creeks and bluff ends. Had 6 bites and boated two of them. Had one really good bite and the rod loaded up and started reeling and nothing but a couple of good sized scales. My gut feeling was that it was another toad that just swiped at it. Water temp was 45-46 degrees. A bad day of fishing beats a good day at work. Got to spend the day with my dad and talked the day away until the cold rain drove us off the lake. Saw a few eagles which was fun to watch. Partner fished the winter series today, and they caught a limit, but 23 pounds won it. It is very finicky on the bite right now and if you are off a little bit you are going to struggle. I think with the several fronts that have been blowing in the fish are moving around to get to the winter haunts right now. A lot of fishermen are scratching their heads. Good luck. Champ188 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I was among those who was a little bit off the bite Saturday. It definitely changed just from Thursday.
Quillback Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Certainly tougher for me yesterday also. I wonder if the 23 lb. bag came on the A-rig?
Champ188 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Certainly tougher for me yesterday also. I wonder if the 23 lb. bag came on the A-rig? I think that's pretty much a given, QB. Just sayin.
jmes Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 FYI also remember in the Winter Series tournament they have a 6 fish limit where as most other tournament have a 5 fish limit and Yes I agree with Champ on the A-rig
fishingaddiction Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 A very good days fishing, whether any are caught or not when your Dad is in the boat with you. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
rps Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 A very good days fishing, whether any are caught or not when your Dad is in the boat with you. Dad has been gone more than a decade now. Our last fishing trip was a big brown trout day on the White with the Gassville policeman/fishing guide. Elvin? I find myself wishing he could join me for where, how, and what I fish now.
fishingaddiction Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Dad has been gone more than a decade now. My Dad has been gone about the same amount of time RPS. I have found memories of our fishing trips, especially the first one he took me on. I caught a 4 lb large mouth on a creme flip tail purple worm, from that moment on I have loved fishing. I was 10 years old when I caught that bass. I know if he were here today, he would love to fish the Rock with me. Thanks for your post. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Champ188 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Awesome memories, guys. I'm fortunate to still have my dad although he's not able to fish these days. We still enjoy sitting and talking about it and it was him who planted the seed in me. I know there have been times when he wishes it hadn't turned into such an obsession with me, but he also knows if it wasn't fishing, it probably would have been something much less healthy. fishingaddiction 1
