Thanks for sharing. Is that the Roman Made brand swimbait he's talking about at the end?

Yea, its the Negotiator model in "oikawamesu" color. I've seen several videos/pics of him with that particular bait. I had a perch one a while back before they became a super hot commodity. Sold it thinking I could find something more shad or sucker like down the road, still kicking myself for doing that

The action/swim pattern of the S-waver 200 is similar to the Negotiator, but there's about $60 difference between them. I've caught plenty of bass so far on it, in the "Party Crasher" shad pattern. I did get to talk to brandon a little bit while he was here fishing the Elite event. Really nice guy

Maybe I will bite the bullet and order me a 4-6" wake bait when I get my income tax return. Watching this video and others has peaked my interest. I don't know anybody that I fish against in my bass club that uses these types of baits. It might pay off big to try something different........or just look good in my tacklebox if I can't convince myself to toss it.

Seth, I recommend a 6inch BBZ1Jr in Lavender Shad or Blue Herring. It doesn't have a bill on it and moves with just the slightest tug, even the line uncoiling will make it move.

I mentioned no diving bill/lip, because with baits this size I've seen so many fish hit the front or head of the bait. Baits like a Mikey, M.S. Slammer, or a Strike King "King Kong", that have a lip, tend to flip when a fish headshots the lure and the hooks swing out of the way=missed fish, so give a floating BBZ1Jr 6inch a try. Slow and steady, and hold on for explosive hits

I've had the toughest time trying to figure out the correct line setup to use with these giant lures. I've thrown off more $$$ than I care to admit.

Brandon says he uses 25lb flouro to throw a 3-6oz swimbait. I tried 20 and then 25lb Seaguar 100% flouro with a 5" and 6" Bull Shad and used a palomar and braid knot respectively. Both threw off within an hour or two and the line looked like a split end - frayed in two or three strands and the lure sunk to the bottom of the lake. Should I be retying ever half hour?

I'm using an ~8 foot med heavy Lew's rod and a Lew's BB1 pro. I've tried braid as well with the same result - cast and bait just goes bye bye when the rod gets to about 12 o'clock. I've been told recently to use big game mono in 25lb instead. I know I'm not generating that much torque with these noodle arms of mine :) What gives?

Good video. Thanks for sharing. I am now going to waste another 2 hours watching the rest of those video interniews with the other anglers like Chris Christie, Cliff Pace and Mark Rose.

Hmm I use P-line PF original in 20,25, and 30# for the majority of my swimbait fishing and haven't casted off a bait in a while and the last time was when I wasn't paying attention and got a backlash. I generally stick with the palomar 99% of the time but have been experimenting with the San Diego Jam with the pricier baits. My suggestion is practicing your casting technique, the sweet spot is somewhere in between a traditional cast and a lob if that makes sense. When I first started throwing these bigger lures I tossed some baits off but with time dialed in my cast to where it is a non issue. Until you get your confidence up I suggest you get a couple floating baits to use (much easier to retrieve when thrown off lol) A slammer and punker would do nicely

As far as retying goes, no reason to do it every half hour. Just keep your eye out for any abrasions, like you would with any other lure. I personally do retie after almost every fish though (admittedly this is hard to do if there is a hot bite)

As you mentioned, Big Game is a good line for this also
