joeD Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I saw a drift boat being pulled behind a vehicle on the road to Tan Vat (from Mauntauk) last Saturday morning. Why? WTF? Am I missing something? When are f****** OARS needed to float from Tan Vat and Baptist to Cedar? Good grief. I'm all for different strokes and finding your tao, but... Drift boats?
fishinwrench Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Just a SWAG here, but maybe, just maaaaybeee they left the city in the early AM with plans of hitting the NF or EP, stopped to pee and one of them took a quick look at the guage....."Holy crap the NF/EP is unexpectedly blowing out! Let's just turn around and fish the Current instead". So they did. The drifter? It prolly stayed on the trailer.
Brian Sloss Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Being a drift boat guy, I can say that a drift boat is overkill on that stretch of the Current. That said, they may have been on a multiday trip and the Current may not have been their only stop or they had not been to the Current before and found out how small it was when thy got there. Who knows. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
Gavin Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 They pull through while going to places south. No need for one above Welch but a few have done it before.
Gavin Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 FWIW, there is a fellow who runs a 25 jet boat down there in the winter months, have not seen the dude on the Mokai in several years.
