JohnP Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Had plans to put the boat in and run about 4 miles down the lake and hunt a main lake flat that usually produces when the conditions are right like yesterday. Boat starts right up and let it run while i park the truck. Go to take off and it wont get up on plane, doesn't die or cut out just no power to get up on plane. So just idle across the ramp to one of the main lake cuts and sit there and see what happens which wasn't much . Get everything setup and go to move the boat and open it up and it jumps right up on plane and runs like nothing is is wrong?????? Decide to just sit there and not push it especially as cold as it was not there being nothing down lake incase I do have boat problems. Not much was flying yesterday morning but still enjoyed the hunt non the less and managed to harvest 2 gaddies that couldn't resist the soft pink glow of the flamingo . Sat til almost noon and only seen about a dozen ducks total 5 of those being divers flying the lake that wouldn't swing into the cut. Only heard 2 or 3 shots from one volley all morning.

JohnP Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 Did until the wind picked up than it was just short of white capping. Jerk line broke up the glassy look until the wind picked up
BilletHead Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 There will be days like that John P, I sometimes don't post ours days like that. Others I do. I blunder all the time. Glad your motor straightened up and some ducks cooperated . Cold weather is hard on things. Especially for me because while you were out hunting I was in the truck keeping warm. at one time yesterday I bet we were not too awful far from your location. Just glad it warmed up for our hunt. We will have our flamingo by next season. That is so neat, we have to have fun along the way. If it gets too serious the fun goes out of the adventure. Got a mailer for your poppers. Will have them in the mail in a day of two, BilletHead "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" BilletHead " One thing in life is for sure. If you are careful you can straddle the barbed wire fence but make one mistake and you will be hurting" BilletHead P.S. "May your fences be short or hope you have long legs" BilletHead
npierceuark Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 That cold weather does a number on boats. I rode along with a buddy Sat AM and just about everything short of his motor exploding and sinking the boat happened. Frozen steering, shorted wires, snapped throttle cable, you name it. Still managed a few birds but was far more exhausting than we were hoping for. Hopefully the remainder of the season is a bit more accommodating haha.
