Guest Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 the MLF has an awesome setup, all the little fish add up fast. I can unhook, weigh them & catch them faster than most on a good day, on a bad day I would log more 2min penalties than fishing time. Lol
Guest Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Was that round 2 that you watched? I've seen round 1 but don't remember the Redfin. I'm watching the Ft Gibson episode tonight
rps Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Tenkiller anecdote, retold, again: Ken Rainbolt and I liked to fish. He was a Vietnam 2 tour vet in law school with me. We fished local ponds and all. Because I owned a hand me down Evinrude Fastwin 18, we also rented boats and fished lakes. Tenkiller was our choice. One Spring break we caught a two person limit of crappie two days in a row. 37 X 2 X 2. We cleaned them, fried them in cut off drums and celebrated our passage of the Oklahoma bar exam together.
moguy1973 Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I wish they would add the number of penalty minutes each angler racks up on the score tracker. Would be interesting to see how much less time some of them would get to fish from taking penalties compared to some of the others that are more careful landing and releasing fish. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

I'm watching the Ft Gibson episode tonight I thought it said it was round 3. Have it recorded and will check. Scott Suggs won it with a fin, Morizo Shizumi was 2nd finessing, everyone else looked to just be scratching and grinding. Lot of dirty water TX and SE guys out of their element in that clear water.

I think as part of your strategy you would have to plan a size fish you were willing to be penalized for. Anything over 18" and full of trebles would be going in my floor well away from my body. Suggs was doing the redfin mumbly peg routine, and mentioned how that bait was a death trap. Literally for those of us who run Daiichi's. More so on spots and brown fish.
Guest Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Somehow I missed it. Maybe there will be a rerun that I can DVR
J-Doc Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Spoiler alert peeps. Geez!! Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Guest Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Okay, let's say you catch 30 bass in 6hours, those 30 bass could weigh 28-40lbs easy. Let's say you caught 50 that weighed 60lbs in 6 hours. 8-10 fish per hour isn't that hard during the post spawn.
Quillback Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 They are also running the MLF top level tournament on Saturdays (I think), well that's when they air the show. They were up in Maine. Mostly catching smallies, but there are LM in those lakes also. Best strategy is to load up on 1-2 lb. smallies.
