Blll Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 A nice feature of Lakemaster chips is the water level offset. Anyone know what water level was used for the Beaver depth info that is shown on the chip with no offset?
Dan the fisherman Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I also have the lake master chip but have not set up the off set yet.......So I'm not 100% on this, But I would think they'd use normal conservation pool 1,120 ft msl. So how ever many feet its down that's how many feet to off set. We're at 1,113.0 now. So set offset to -7 maybe. Hope this helps..
J-Doc Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 No clue. I assume they set if to normal pool? Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Blll Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 I guess that is my question. I searched water level history and May is normally about 1120 but in the fall 1113 seems pretty normal. I was hoping somewhere in the software it would state what pool level was used. Kinda of a useless feature of the chip if your starting point is unknown. Still learning the lake and do not want any surprise shoals to ruin my day. Thanks for the input, I'm calling Lakemaster on Monday to get their take.
J-Doc Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 If you set your transducer height, that may affect the depths but I doubt it. Definitely a call to Lake Master is in order. Report back what you hear. I use Navionics myself. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. Stump bumper Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I don't have one of these chips, but my idea would be to set your boat on a contour line, then look at your depth finder. If the contour line is at 20 feet and your depth finder is at 10 feet, then you can use that day's water level to find the answer. J-Doc 1
Blll Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 Hey guys, talked with Lakemaster today and Stump Bumper had the answer. The rep said put the boat on a counter line, check your depth finder and adjust the chip for the difference. That way you are adjusting for that day and are not required to know current pool level. Thanks for the help guys!
Jerry Rapp Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 there should be a simple input. What is today's lake elevation? Enter it, and the maps adjust accordingly.
Members Blueman Posted March 16, 2015 Members Posted March 16, 2015 My old lowrance had pretty good contours out of the box. I just got a new humminbird 899 and the contours are pretty lacking. I see that there are a couple different map chips available for these units. Are the lakemaster maps pretty standard for what everybody buys?
5bites Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Yes especially if you own a humminbird. The 1' contour lines on hd lakes and being able to color your depths are hard to beat features. I like them anyway. The main thing is see what brand has the lakes you like first then just compare features.
