Finally got out on the water Sat & Sun. Threw the Ned A LOT, didn't do so hot. Caught a few on bluff ends Sat but none there Sunday. Sunday was tough for me but did have fun catching two gar on an ice jig. Saw some activity in the mouth of Piney on the finder and thought it was some whites, dipped the ice jig down and caught a gar, then another, then one small spot. Got some of Dave's (dtrs5kprs) Ned heads and used them for the first time, they were nice. Only lost one and I was in some gnarly stuff too, I highly recommend them. Here are a couple of pics. The weekend was beautiful & it wasn't as busy as I thought it would have been out there. Cheers.

Did the ice jig actually stick the gar or did they just clamp down on it? Either way that is pretty wild.

Might look a little farther back in than the bluff ends.

Your top photo perfectly illustrates why fishing was so tough. Nothing harder than bluebird skies with no wind. Glad you got out and enjoyed some time on the water.

Wow. Not one but TWO gar. Crazy. Bet you thought you had a real pig hauling those 2 up from depth. Always a bit of a disappointment when you pull up a trash fish (catfish, gar, drum, carp, etc) thinking you have a dandy bass. Still fun either way though. Anything willing to tug on the end of the line is a winner for me.

I used to think the same thing until I found the Ned. It shines on these cussed type days, but the waters a little cold to get into the numbers deal.

100%. People around Kim City used to look at me funny when I told them I hoped the sun would be out and the wind wouldn't blow.

"Trash fish" are always welcome in my boat, especially when the little rig gets demolished by a fatty drum.

"Trash Fish" those are all my favorite fish, every time I hear that I want to bass fish and fill a stringer out of spite. They deserve a little more respect, just think they all survive with no stocking program, I get disappointed when I catch bass that is one live well away from death with tournament herpes all over their mouth.

Whoa. Take it easy. There was no intent to offend anyone or the quarry that they are after. I treat all fish and wildlife in general the same, with respect. But going out and filling a limit out of spite seems a bit harsh and irrational. Take a chill pill man.
