My new vote: Temple Forks Outfitters "Gary Loomis Signature Series" 7 ft. Light/Fast. Side by side with my buddies St. Croix there was no comparision. The action breaks appear to be far more engineered. It easily out cast my 6'6" Falcon by 10-15ft.

Ha, yeah! This guy gets it! Loomis sr720 -they quit making the cheaper version, it was detrimental to trout populations!

Have a look at some of fenwicks rods. The HMG and HMX rods are both around 89-99 dollars and are really nice for the money.

I have to say st croix does a fine job around $100... How do folks feel about Loomis rods post shimano buy out?
