Jason R. Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Gray over Lt.blue sounds sexy, I'll have to try a couple of those. Dark grey over light blue- with that black/blue/purple metallic flash- can't remember what it is called... Definitely a go-to when I used to fish the crap out of the beaver lake run in college. My newly discovered favorite color is black over purple for stained water and pond bass. http://flyinthesouth.com/
On The Fly 6 Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Last year I had great success on grey and white clousers. Chartreuse and white faired ok, but I only used them because all my grey and white clousers were all shredded up and coming apart. fishinwrench Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 I do a little flouro-fiber hotspot on my Gray/White's. Kinda gets their attention I think. That's a Henry Cowen trick.
Members Schenk781 Posted March 29, 2015 Members Posted March 29, 2015 Are you saying by "hot spot" the extension of flash? ive considered that when im tying but 10x out of 10 I end up trimming in the end
fishinwrench Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 No I was referring to this little pinch of hot pink fluorescent material on the bottom. The whites where I fish really respond well to it. Aggressor1988long 1

fishinwrench Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 No, dammit. It is called "Flouro-Fiber", and it is tied in after the white bucktail. C'mon guys ! BilletHead 1
BilletHead Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Yep me like a hot spot. You want to know what the BilletHead does? Probably not but he just uses the color of thread he wants the spot to be.
