Members Lewisstull Posted March 20, 2015 Members Posted March 20, 2015 Man as bad as I hate to I'm going to have to head to flat creek sat and try and put some fish in the freezer. I figure the boat traffic is going to be bad. How's the water looking over there? Still dirty?
WettinLine Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 There is a reason there is allot of boats! Yes still dirty
Cindyjo Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 The flat creek area has been real slow. talked with many fisherman and their out all day to catch 10 keeper crappie. Bass fishing is better but hit and miss. Lots of spoonbillers. looks like they are doing well this year.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 20, 2015 Root Admin Posted March 20, 2015 Not what I heard.... Crappie are off the flats and on wood. Limits coming before the rains- and after. Dirty water isn't hurting the catching. And it's going to get better... justindaleporter and Sac River Jim 2

Seth Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 How far down the James do the snaggers usually go? The thickest part of them will be above the 76 bridge and specifically around point 15.
duckydoty Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Water temps in Flat Creek were 53-54 degrees today. Water is stained a little and a little mud in it still but good crappie color. Fish did not bite as well today as yesterday and day before, but still found some just off the banks in brush and some suspended on pole timber only about 3 feet deep in 20 feet of water. Lots of snaggers to dodge on the main lake channels. Found water temps all the way up to 56 degrees down by Virgin Bluff today. Started in that area and should have just went straight to Flat Creek. Caught lots of shorts, and I mean just barely short along with enough keepers to make a nice meal. Seth 1 A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. ten_scoach Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Yes, tons of boats with snaggers n anglers. Seemed like fish just tucked low once all the boats started running around in there.
vonreed Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Me and my son went down this evening. I blew my boat motor about a week ago, so now I'm without a boat for the forseeable future, prob a year or two. Anyway. We paddled all the way up into the river channel of Flat Creek and never got a bite, only saw a few boats up there. 2 people motored all the way up there and saw nobody else, so they just turned and left without fishing, lol. I guess they were trying to find a crowd. We took out and went down to Point 15 about 715ish and fished for 30 minutes. We caught 2 nice keeper crappie with a few short fish mixed in. We found them right off the steep bank along trees in the water. I can't wait to go back now. I'm sitting here eating what I caught 1 1/2 hrs ago and they are delicious. Phil Lilley and Muddy Water 2
