dtrs5kprs Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Dave I'm on a very similar bite on stockton and i agree i dont see it doing nothing but getting better. It wont be long till the big girls move in. Matter of fact we had a 4.95 kicker taken of that type of nothing bank. I'm fishing a derby tomorrow and the little rig is tied on and ready to rock and roll. the creek i'm fishing has small wash outs on the flat pea gravel banks and sunday our two largest fish came from the wash outs. Exactly. Maximizing the little rig is about milking otherwise insignificant features...one big rock well out on a gravel stretch, a single stick in 20' of water, etc. Good luck tomorrow.
fishingaddiction Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Sounds like a fun day. I am with Dave it is amazing that 20 fish is a slow day on the varmit. Sounds like the brown water is working it's way down stream. Bass Fishing Man 62 1 Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Quillback Posted March 21, 2015 Author Posted March 21, 2015 Catching 20 with a half dozen keepers is not a bad day in my book. Yes sir you are right, I didn't mean to make it sound like a bad day. But it was a bit slower than I expected, I really thought we would get into them and get more in the 30-40 range. When things are right, there are people that catch 50- 75 bass a day on these things. The fish were squirrely yesterday, both of us had quite a few bites where the fish would tap it and then drop it. Could've been bream or small bass, but there were a couple of times we'd get that tap, it would get dropped, and after moving it a bit, we'd catch a bass.

Took it to mean they were feeding on craws, and playing with their food. Either that or maybe fighting each other for it. If you left it alone another one would usually pick it up. Made me think there were an awful lot of them on those areas. Quillback 1

That makes sense, probably should just leave it in place, maybe shake it a bit after one of those drive-bys. Lesson learned for next time.
