Nick Williams Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Soon I'll be in the market for a new pair of wading boots to go with my stocking foot waders. Just curious as to what everyone uses and how they like what they have, and also to whether or not anyone has/uses a pair with the Boa lacing system and how well it holds up. Seems like a sweet idea, but at the same time seems less fail proof than normal waders. I haven't narrowed it down much yet as I'm just starting to look! Thanks! - Nick
Ham Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I've got a pair of REALLY beat up Chota's that have all things considered have really held up well. They have nearly doubled in price since I last bought a pair, but they are still on the inexpensive side of things. They are felp so keep that in mind if you are planning on fishing MO. Nighthawk Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I have a pair of Korkers with boa lacing system. It seems that there is a little something wrong with every pair of Korkers I have had, but that being said, I really like this pair. The studded rubber soles are ok, but, of course, not as good as felt.
Members JCW355 Posted March 27, 2015 Members Posted March 27, 2015 I bought the simms freestone being I got them for almost half price. My first boots were simms G4's. They were a good boot but started to show their age. Steepandcheap.com had a good deal on those boots so I bought them. They will have fishing gear every now and then and I got lucky I happened to check their sight that day. Go 2 sizes up on simms. My G4's were a size 10, the freestones are a size 11 and my feet stay warmer.
Members westbranchfly Posted March 27, 2015 Members Posted March 27, 2015 I'll second Ham. I have a pair of rubber soled chotas that have done very well. I bought them 4-5 years ago. Lots of mileage fishing in Pennsylvania and Missouri. Just replaced the laces in them a few days ago. Money well spent.
Jason R. Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I got some rubber soled patagonias that were on clearance. They are a little stiff but they seem like really solid boots that will last a while. I'd recommend them. http://flyinthesouth.com/
Ill Trout Bum Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 I also would recommend the Simms Freestone boot. Right now there are some great deals on discontinued items. Great fitting comfortable and durable boots for the money. Scott
