trythisonemv Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Hit the river Monday hoping to track down a white bass or two. Well I got three all males full of milt. No females yet and males were in eddies feeding on the bottom. Saw a fella with a stringer full of males and a walleye. He had been up above 215. Looked like down the path where that bike trail goes. Also caught ten largies and a smallie . All in all an enjoyable day just had a few hours so couldn't move around A lot. Spent most time under 215 bridge and below Taylor. Good luck out there guys Phil Lilley and Ketchup 2
bologna Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Maybe this rain will bring them up? Water level is still pretty low. Can you wade in the 215 bridge area?
trythisonemv Posted March 25, 2015 Author Posted March 25, 2015 You can wade but real muddy and swift . I think after the rain and warm up next week they will be on. I keep wanting them to be early but not enough rain yet.
trythisonemv Posted March 31, 2015 Author Posted March 31, 2015 I used road runner with chartreuse grub mostly. Tried rooster tail but nothing hit it but large mouth
slab slinger Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Dad fished up from taylor this morning said he had 3 males in 10 min and went dead. Moved around alot and picked up 1 more. 4 fish in 4 hrs. He went back this evening Orleans fished till dark for 2 bites No fish. I have it logged On paper several years in a row we caught limits of males at orleans the second week of march (stupid of me not to log water temps). Think the temp fluctuations with rains 2 weeks in a row is pushing them back? Shallow water yrs are usually not as good of a run (My Opinion).
trythisonemv Posted April 1, 2015 Author Posted April 1, 2015 The first time I went was in April of 2011 higher water. People were catching good numbers. Then in 2012 I caught over a hundred in April's second week. Higher water. Thirteen was lower and only caught a few. Same last year. I think it's just better in April with higher water.
slab slinger Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Agreed. Im usually chasing crappie when the whites are at full swing in the river. Just comparing journal logs on march whites yrs past and wanted to know if anyone agreed with they should up a little better by now.
