rps Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I went out for three hours this morning. I found 50 to 52 degree water. The day started with no wind and by the time I came off it was beginning to blow. Third trip in a row no action on the Ned. I am puzzled. I caught a nice keeper and a short small mouth on the Rockcrawler. I also had a large walleye follow it to the boat, but he flared of when I paused the bait. Tomorrow I pull the boat out of the water and take it in for preventive maintenance. I'll be beached until I get it back. Muddy Water and Champ188 2
dtrs5kprs Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 What type of water are you fishing with the little rig?
rps Posted March 25, 2015 Author Posted March 25, 2015 What type of water are you fishing with the little rig? The wrong type. Primarily pea gravel and where I can find it pea gravel with scattered chunk rock. Monday I fished it on secondary points in Roaring River as well.
Guest Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Rock Crawlers & Ned Rigs, can't argue with that. Nice fish

Monday I fished it on secondary points in Roaring River as well. Might look at some mixed rock banks, with a little more chunk, maybe some big rock here and there. I don't think the gravel deal is going yet. Other going deal has been on the main river swings and bluff ends/end coves.
dtrs5kprs Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 How's the new Ned casting blank treating you? And that might be another factor to consider. Spinning gear will let the little guy drop on a free line that is hard to duplicate with a casting reel without peeling a ton of line. Not sure you could do it fast enough.
Quillback Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I don't know how far up the stained water goes, but that was the deal Monday. Stained water with sun. Shallow, ledge rock with some buck brush. They were not up in the buck brush, but right out in front of it. I got more bites on the Menace grub, but still got some on the Ned. Weather may screw things up for a bit, I'd like to get out tomorrow and fish the afternoon sunshine, assuming we don't get crazy rain tonight.
rps Posted March 25, 2015 Author Posted March 25, 2015 How's the new Ned casting blank treating you? I really like the rod. Really like it. I would like it even more if I could get on the fish with the bait it was designed to fish.
5bites Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Good deal. Sometime if possible I'd like to see it myself. I should have at the shindig a while back.
