I've talked with 3 game wardens about this. All have told me you are fine to troll more than 3 rods, just label them. The problem they mostly deal with is the 10 guys on the shore all with poles "just watching them" for the one guy with the license. As for the 3 hooks thing above, that makes crank baits illegal to drag. Dont think that's quite right. There's more to it than that. Just my .02

What is the purpose of labeling if you have more than 3 poles?

One potential point for confusion is that lures such as crankbaits have multiple hooks. They are still considered one hook under the Wildlife Code definition. The key is to apply the regulatory definition of a hook to use the rig. The numbers of hooks on each lure are not counted, but rather, the numbers of lures with a hook or hooks are counted.

The best way to find your answer to any regulation is to call MDC Regulations Dept. in Jeff City at 573-522-4115 ext 3501

I think the labeling your rods thing is somehow linked to the same reason you have to label jug lines. Best bet would be to just label them and troll on!!
