brittsnbirds Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Well it flushed me and the wife out. Way too much water for me. Plus they were calling for more ran. Hooked up the 5er and headed further south. Setting here at Bull Shoals state park, dry and warm. However they are running 5 gates or something water is up no where to wade fish. Will see tomorrow. Have to do some research as this is my first trip here. Really nice camp ground right on the river!!
NoLuck Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 I fished Bennett Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon also. Fished both days for about 4 hours each day. Water was up but slowly going down and clearing from a milky gray green to a milky green. Took about 20-30 mins to figure out the depth and mend needed to catch fish. But after that it was game on. I landed close to 40 fish each day. There was one point where I landed 11 fish on 11 drifts. Saw a lot of people catching little or nothing. The only people really catching much were spin fishermen, fishing bright Orange rooster tail spinners. There was not much size to the ones caught either. Most probably less than 10". Looks like more rain in the forcast there too. Maybe it will be a while before the stream gets back to regular levels. If it's 3' or less I'm good with it. Anything over that it gets tough.
Aggressor1988long Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Didnt know there were 40 fish in there lol. Good job glad to hear you were catching them.
oneshot Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Yelp going to bring it back up Wednesday and Thursday. oneshot
JestersHK Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Water still up pretty good? I am heading down tonight to fish Friday and Saturday. Looks like deep and slow will be the key from the last reports I heard...
oneshot Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Looked at the river it is back down. Not sure how the bite is. oneshot
JestersHK Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 Thanks for the update Oneshot! We'll see if we can't get them biting. Weather at least for once looks like it is going to cooperate.
Members Farley6666 Posted April 10, 2015 Members Posted April 10, 2015 Hi guys, i'm new to the forum and making my first trip down to Bennett today after work. Do you think i'll have a hard time finding a site in campground 4?
NoLuck Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Hi guys, i'm new to the forum and making my first trip down to Bennett today after work. Do you think i'll have a hard time finding a site in campground 4? It may be tough. CG 5 may be a better bet. CG4 is a reserve CG. There may be some open spots though. They are first come first served.
brittsnbirds Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Why CG 4? Are you tent camping, pop up, travel trailer or what? There are some spots in CG 4 I wouldn't try to get a trailer in.
