Members larryace Posted April 2, 2015 Author Members Posted April 2, 2015 Yes I enjoy throwing it, until I catch about 5 fish, then they break. Wish they wouldn't.
Flysmallie Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 That's strange to hear. From everything I hear they are the ones to throw. I never gave one a shot because I already have a spinnerbait that I love so I saw no reason to change. And now I guess I never will.
Walcrabass Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Flysmallie, Ok so now I want to know. What is the Spinner Bait you dearly love???
Flysmallie Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Flysmallie, Ok so now I want to know. What is the Spinner Bait you dearly love??? Stanley Wedge
Walcrabass Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Flysmallie, I looked at the Stanley Wedge Spinner Baits on the internet. Nice looking bait. They have a really good selection of skirt patterns too. Only thing I saw that I was not fond of was the fact that the skirt is held on by a skirt collar. I really, really, really prefer mine to be tied. That does not mean a piece of wire either. Tied and cinched up tight to get the most action from the skirt that is possible. Also read that they are made with flat rubber. Great stuff and comes in a huge color selection. I also like the "round rubber". The round rubber they make today is much more resilient than it was 30 years ago. It must have at least twice the action of flat rubber. Anyway they look like a nice bait and I hope you catch tons on them. Doesn't sound like you have to worry about them breaking or tying on a new one to keep from losing fish. Walcrabass
Flysmallie Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I agree that the skirt attachment is not the best. And I have had to replace plenty of skirts. But it's a good running bait that isn't overpriced.
Sac River Jim Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 i'd break out the med diving cranks and work the pea gravel pockets and the points and transition banks from pea gravel to chunk or on bluff ends. its WART time fellas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aggressor1988long and Lifes2Short 2

Hey Jim, I threw a Wart the past 2 wknds on Stockton and not a bite. This past sunday I tied on a Strike King spinner bait for the first time this year, and nothing. All of my fish are coming off of a H2O crank, white/clear. Hitting up Pomme in the morning, and will try my spots that i know will produce, and see whats new there. Sac River Jim 1 TinBoats BassClub. Walcrabass Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Flysmallie, THat price thing is pretty big with me. I have actually seen Spinner Baits for 14.15 dollars before. It seems like most of the upper end ones run about $7. I have to say that the ones I use you NEVER have to worry about the skirts pulling down. The only time the skirts are bad is when they have actually been EATEN off from catching so many fish. Walcrabass
Flysmallie Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I don't remember there ever being a problem with the skirts pulling down unless it was pretty worn by a bunch of fish. The replacements always got the zip tie treatment. Sac River Jim 1
